Director Technical & Model-Based Advisory
Looking for a challenge to develop our technical (quantitative and model based) advisory team, project portfolio and service offering? We have a vacancy in our Naarden Office!
WHO WE ARE
Magnus Energy works on a bright future. Building a strong energy system in which renewables are fully incorporated. Helping to balance sustainability, security, and affordability. Navigating the ever-evolving energy transition.
We employ the best and brightest energy experts. Bringing in-depth knowledge of energy markets and systems. Using our capability to create trust and progress. Acting as independent guides.
We help make strategic decisions, using our insights of the European electricity landscape. Our (technical) experts help conceptualise changes in the electricity market, grids and regulations. We manage complex multi-party programs, creating trust and progress in international cooperation. Also, we support individual organisations in navigating the energy transition.
CONTEXT
We are specialised in supporting key players in the energy sector, including system operators, market entities, traders, and flexibility providers. With a prominent presence in the European electricity industry, we hold a solid reputation. For instance, we actively support projects related to the governance of European electricity market coupling where all European TSOs and Power Exchanges are represented and various other consortia on their programs and projects.
Our goal is to expand our services and strengthen our position as Pan-European consultancy firm. Over the past few years, we have developed Technical Advisory services, attracting key experts and advanced our pool of consultants. Building upon this foundation, we aim to accelerate the growth of this practice. Focusing on market and grid data analysis, business analysis, investment decision support, and impact assessments.
We seek a Director who embodies vision and ambition to drive the growth of this practice alongside our existing team. You'll play an important role in our company's growth strategy, collaborating closely with current partners responsible for other practices.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will support clients and international project teams. In a fast-paced environment, you will lead a team that can provide high-quality analysis of markets, grids, investments, and commercialization strategies (among others, also using energy system models).
Your key challenge in this role is to further develop our technical (quantitative and model-based) advisory team, project portfolio and service offering.
You are expected to have experience and ability to (I) develop a vision based on the input from clients and stakeholders (existing and potential ones), (II) define new services to help clients (III) grow the team and (IV) possibly develop the tools to do this successfully. Moreover, you also have an extensive network to enrich the already existing client base.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We value pro-activity, initiative, entrepreneurship, and ambition. For us it is important you are driven by the same values to make sure you will fit well into our great team!
You are an experienced professional, motivated to go the extra mile and always aiming to exceed client expectations. You take responsibility for your own tasks and the ones you delegate, and you are pragmatic with an intrinsic focus of getting things done.
You have experience with leading consultancy teams in the context of Technical Advisory and you combine your own expertise and knowledge with the soft skills required to provide excellent consultancy services to our clients and effectively communicate your findings.
Your tasks and responsibilities
Your will be accelerating our Technical Advisory practice, amplifying our services for European Transmission System Operators, Distribution System Operators, market operators, traders, and flexibility providers. Working closely together with Principals, you will spearhead a team of consultants, leveraging your expertise to further develop our vision about a low-carbon energy system. Cultivating and expanding your sector network, you will position our offerings strategically and execute projects that propel our clients toward their objectives. Additionally, you will actively contribute to thought leadership, linking insights to business prospects.

- A Master's degree, preferably with a technical background
- Relevant consulting experience (appr. 10 years) in the field of technical (quantitative, quantitative/model-based) advisory

- In-depth understanding of the energy sector and areas (e.g. power system studies, cross-zonal capacity calculation, functioning of day-ahead, intraday and/or balancing markets) and a vision on the status quo and direction of international energy markets
- Extensive network within the European energy landscape, within TSOs, DSOs, market operators, traders and flexibility providers and ability to make new and maintain professional relationships.
- Exceptional communication skills across all organisational levels
- Professional fluency in English (minimum C1), and preferably fluent in German or Dutch, another European language is a plus
- Valid work permit for the Netherlands, Germany or Austria and current residency
